So um, yeah…

Friday night Stephanie & Rob, Tiffany & David, and Jason and I got to see my favorite comedian ever, Eddie Izzard. In case you don’t know Eddie is a (executive) transvestite comedian who talks about everything but mostly history and religion. He is currently staring in the Riches and has been in Velvet Goldmine, Mystery Men, Ocean’s Twelve & Thirteen, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Across the Universe, Prince Caspian and lots of others and is in the new animated film Igor (I can’t wait!)

Friday night Eddie didn’t dress in full high heels and makeup but kept to boots, a coat with tails and subdued makeup and the chosen topic was religion. I enjoyed his story of why Nashville was called Nashville “This town is nash, man!” and how the Ryman was built in the year 1585. Its a lot more fun to be able to be part of the interaction than to just view the dvd. He made a lot of good points about religion – i.e. its wrong to burn 50,000 women at the stake. I love Eddie’s impersonation of giraffes (no, not evil giraffes) and that he is a fan of mac “I’m sure the pc is a fine machine… its just not as sexy.”

I love Eddie and he is hysterical but towards the end my butt was winning the “More Eddie/I’m Done” battle. The balcony of the Ryman is a lot better than the floor as far as being able to see what is going on but at least when we went to see Bright Eyes there was a lot of standing. Remind me to bring a cushion next time I go to the Ryman.

New bedroom

So yesterday, Jason and I took a big step as a couple – we bought furniture together. For a while the bed situation had been a problem. He would always wake up tired and the week that I had to go to the chiropractor because I slept wrong was straw that broke the bed’s back. Jason had decided that he had to have a memory foam and fell in love with a thera-pedic set at DMT in Paris. We decided to go up from a queen to a king and since he picked out the mattress I had the final say on the bed. So I picked out the Hayley set from Ashley. We only bought the bed (our set has a footboard but couldn’t find a pic) because of the whole wedding but. But I’m hoping that since we don’t need to register for much else that we will be able to get the rest of the set after the wedding. I think it will look lovely with some nice cool blue sheets and silver accents.

Tasty

1.  What’s too spicy for your tastes? I used to be more sensitive to spicy stuff but not as much anymore. I can pretty much do anything these days except wasabi can get to be too much too fast. And Jalapeno peppers are definitely too much – I like to get the sonic breakfast burritos and pick out the peppers.

2.  What’s too sweet for your tastes? There is nothing too sweet for my tastes. I am a fan of all that is sugary. If it has sugar in it, its in my mouth faster than any sugar junkie can go. The other day Beth and I had mountain dew with subway cookies – it was heaven.

3.  What’s too salty for your tastes? I really don’t dig the salty too much. Jason likes to eat fritos with salsa – entirely too salty for me. I had two and had to quit, then drank a ton of water.

4.  What’s too bitter for your tastes? Sometimes when a zuchinni, yellow squash or cucumber isn’t ripe enough they can be way too bitter – yuck!

5.  What’s too sour for your tastes? Those sour lifesavers are a bit too much for me. There are plenty of people who are fans of the sour but I am not one.

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice…

at least that is how I thought I was made. Apparently I was mistaken:

How to make a Jennifer
Ingredients:
3 parts success
3 parts self-sufficiency
1 part joy
Method:
Combine in a tall glass half filled with crushed ice. Add a little sadness if desired!

Personality Cocktail

Hello, I’m a mac…

These two banner ad videos made me laugh. And doing that at 4:30 in the morning is kinda hard. (At least I’m not the only one forced out of bed at this time by work.)

Now, I’m going back to bed!

Friday Five’s

Ok so here is my first friday 5

1. Who gave you your last balloon, and what was the occasion

I don’t remember my last balloon. I am pretty sure it was from my mom though. She is one of those good moms who send things on occasion.

2. Who gave you your last scolding, and what was it for?

Probably Jason – for my being grumpy or inconsistent.

3.Who gave you your last attaboy, and why?

Tiffany, she couldn’t think of a good headline for a story. Thought of a good one – and I am usually so bad at headlines. Famous Angus is “Famous for Grilling up the competition”

4. Who gave you your last haircut?

Pretty sure it was Tabby. But I need another one pronto!

5. Who gave you your last massage?

Micah Smith gave my neck a massage when I got adjusted. It felt soooo good.

It’s official… its hot

So I was planning to stay away from my pc tonight and cuddle with boy. However, life often has other plans than what you expect. So while my lovable fiancee is off helping some crazy, I am left here to listen to puppy barking. (FYI – Tosh says “abark! abark! bark, bark, bark!”)

Good news – I officially reserved the Rose Garden and several other rooms at Paris Landing State Park for May 2nd, 2009. I have an official date – yay!

So as it is also officially very hot here, I went swimming today. While my mother and I were swimming, I told her that we were considering a buffet. She retorted “you should consider finger foods.” Then lamented over the money Christy and Gary are spending on their photographer. It doesn’t really matter to me that she doesn’t approve of what we are spending on the wedding, I just wish she would lay off a bit. We haven’t asked her to contribute anything to the wedding money, so what is with the need to remind everyone not to spend too much on their weddings. Jason and I both have jobs that pay well so it is not like we will be going into the poor house just to get hitched. I have decided to view it as my patriotic duty to keep the economy going by spending money on a nice wedding.

Speaking of spending money, I always have to visit Etsy when I am bored. I always find myself dragged into the wedding section in hopes of finding a new idea. But it seems lately that the wedding section is filled with tacky garter belts and samples of invitations. This disappoints me because 1. I already designed my own invitation and 2. the garter belts on there are tacky. I don’t plan on having one but if I did I sure wouldn’t get one of the ugly ones that some yahoo has crafted together with her glue gun in one weekend of crack smoking. But I did realize something when I was one there – people sell paintings for crazy amounts of money. I was just thinking today “what am I going to do with all these extra paintings?” I do love my paintings and I plan on keeping most, but a couple of them just don’t go with how I like to decorate. Hmmm, maybe this can fund that buffet that my mother is opposed to….

Oh, by the way – I love Snippet & Ink a wedding inspiration website I found while reading J’s blog – thanks!

Cotton Candy and Peonies – who knew!

And another Oh, after reading my BF’s blog, I realized that I have been engaged for over a month – wow! How time flies when you are planning.

Ice Cream and Dinner

Ice cream helping the environment, who knew? Well I did know that Ben & Jerry’s does not use milk from cows that have been subjected to bovine growth hormone, uses chlorine free packaging, supports sustainable agricultural practices, are committed to reducing their carbon footprint and does business with likeminded companies. But I just found out about Haagen Dazs helping honey bees. If you didn’t know about the honey bee crisis, 25% of the world’s bee population has disappeared over the last few years. You can help by donating and planting bee friendly plants. Haagen Dazs will even send you a packet of wildflower seeds. Just send a self addressed, stamped envelope to:

So Saturday, Jason and I went to Paris Landing Rose Garden and were supposed to meet with Mitzi, but she was a no show. So on Sunday I sent her an email and after a reminder email she finally got back in touch with me. The only thing that bothered me about it is that if you have a plated meal then everyone has to have the same thing. Which would be fine except that me and two of my friends are vegetarians. I am not so preposterously full of myself as to force others into vegetarianism. So that leaves us with the choice of a buffet. Which if you think about it is still silly to go into buffet with two meat choices just so three people can have something different. This one is definitely something that will have to be worked out when it isn’t deadline day.

Also, I am loving my bare minerals makeup that Bethany recommended to me. It gives great coverage and seems to be agreeing with my troublesome skin. We will see if I am still liking it in a few weeks.

New Blog – yay!

So here I am with my brand new spiffy blog. So much space and so little to say. Well there is no better time to fill it up then right now. I decided after reading steph’s blog that it might be time for me to get a wordpress blog too. (Why can’t I be grown up like my best friend?) It is rather nice and clean looking, isn’t it? I put a nice pink peony at the top as I have chosen pink peonys for the wedding (awww)

So I have been busy doing bits of wedding planning lately. It is rather difficult for a girl who doesn’t really like weddings to start planning her own. But thankfully I have the help of my wonderful fiance` (ok, so how the crap do you put the thingy over the e on a pc?… stupid pc), who hates everything I love except for the custom cake topper I picked out (which I found on etsy, my obsession.) We have managed to pick a tentative location and a tentative date – May 2, 2009 at the Paris Landing Rose Garden. It is pretty there but our main concern is whether or not the place will hold everybody. So before the invitations are even sent out I have already donned the title of RSVP Nazi. Oh, and I have done the invitation layout too, because everyone knows being able to use Illustrator while planning a wedding is the best part of the whole thing.

My next step after nailing down the location is a good photographer. I have been unsuccessful in finding anyone local who even remotely pleases me. I am leaning toward the Hopes who did Stephanie’s wedding. They are both very nice and the work is beautiful! In order to afford them I might have to pawn off our first child… which might actually work out for the best.
